Although citizens expected faster completion of works in the city center, the company "Putevi" says that additional problems on the ground have slowed down the final phase of asphalting.
"We need to level a few manholes. They are not properly installed or have collapsed, so that will take us some time, but as for the final paving, the last phase, it will be maybe on Friday and it will take a day for the wearing course and then a couple of hours for the final course," said GP Putevi Director Radoš Zečević.
In addition to the roadway rehabilitation, the traffic organization at the former Podgoričanka department store will also be changed, in order to reduce traffic jams through the center.
„Više neće morati čekati u koloni. Ovdje, znači, pored bivše robne kuće, onaj mali parking će nestati. Od desetak parking vozila, koja su uvijek smetala, nego će se to iskoristiti kao pravac, desno skretanje na veliki parking iza robne kuće“, navodi Zečević.
The rehabilitation of the city center will cost around 75 thousand euros, Zečević announces that after that, the focus will also be on the suburban and rural areas of Podgorica, that is, local roads.
"We have some unfinished business from the last two years. We will definitely finish that. To what extent? As much as possible. We'll see, of course. So, we have the money. So, we have the equipment. Let's just see if we can just get there. Our plans are a bit too extensive. Last year, we fixed about a hundred kilometers of local roads," said Zečević.
The Ministry of Roads says that they plan to rehabilitate around 120 kilometers of local roads this year. However, they ask for additional patience from citizens, as the work will continue in the coming months.
