The children's resort in Sutomore has not been in operation for years. The Children's Association of Podgorica has received urban and technical conditions from the Ministry of Urbanism, Spatial Planning and State Property for the construction of a new resort, while the surrounding area has been cleared.
"Given that the terrain has been cleared, we are faced with the construction from the ground up of a completely new, multifunctional resort for children," said the director of the Children's Association, Duška Šljivančanin.
The resort, he says, is primarily intended for children from low-income groups.
"Children from socially vulnerable families, from foster families, without parental care have priority when it comes to vacation and recreation organized by the Children's Association. This does not exclude other categories of children. Of course, it is primarily for children from Montenegro, but this does not limit us from accepting children from the region and abroad, because we plan to create a multifunctional resort that we will be able to promote to other children, as well as Sutomore and Montenegro," Šljivančanin pointed out.
The plan, he adds, is to build a modern resort with swimming pools, sports fields and numerous other facilities intended for children of different ages.
"What we know so far is that the resort will be designed for some 200 to 240 beds," said Šljivančanin.
After the planning documentation is prepared, it will be known when construction will begin, and Šljivančanin expects the resort to welcome its first children in the first or second quarter of next year.
