"The film became the most watched film in Slovenia in 2025, and recently surpassed 100,000 viewers in cinemas."

The film is directed by Marko Naberšnik, and is based on the autobiographical novel of the same name by Slovenian writer Bronja Žakelj.

"The film adaptation brings an intimate and powerful story about growing up, family, love and loss, told through the perspective of the main character who faces a series of life challenges and tries to find strength in moments of personal turning points," they said in a statement.

The film stars Lea Cok, Jurij Zrnec, Tjaša Železnik, Žiga Šorli, Mei Rabič, Jaka Mehle, Vladimir Tintor, Iva Krajnc Bagola, Saša Tabaković, Jure Rajšp, Polona Juh and Blaž Dolenc.

"The film was created as an international co-production of Slovenia, Italy, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and North Macedonia. The film's producers are Aleš Pavlin and Andrej Štritof. Co-producers also include Tomi Salkovski, Kristijan Burovski, Giorgio Milocco, Mišel Codarin, Barnaba Lupo, Ankica Jurić Tilić, Adrijana Prugovečki and Nikolina Vučetić.

The novel "White Washes at Ninety", published in 2018, has become a literary phenomenon in Slovenia and the region. In it, the author writes in an honest and poignant way about growing up, loss, illness and the struggle for life in the context of Yugoslav society in the 1980s and 1990s. The work was awarded the prestigious Slovenian literary award Kresnik for the best novel of the year," they said in a statement.
