The Police Directorate announced that they have taken measures and actions to identify the person responsible for setting the fire at the construction site in Botun, and that a security company is responsible for physical and technical protection.

"Regarding the fire set on a work machine in the fenced area of ​​the collector construction site in Botun, we would like to inform the public that this morning at 05:59, the Police were informed by workers from the security company "Security Guard Montenegro" that an unknown person had entered the area of ​​the collector construction site, the area that the workers were securing, and that this person had set fire to a work machine - a Volvo excavator," the police said.

As the police add, at the time of the fire, three employees of the aforementioned company were working as security guards at the construction site.

"Immediately after receiving the notification, the Fire Department and police officers were dispatched to the scene to take measures and actions to determine all the circumstances surrounding this event. The on-site investigation was conducted by police officers, in the presence of an expert for fires, explosions and accidents, of which the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was notified," they said in a statement.

Police Directorate officers are taking measures and actions within their jurisdiction in order to identify the person responsible and shed light on this event.

"The police have so far collected information from 13 people, seized several video surveillance recordings of surrounding buildings, conducted a search of the area and undertaken other police measures and actions, the outcome of which the public will be informed in a timely manner," the statement said.

The UP reminds that in this case, it is an infrastructure facility that, after the introduction of an investor for the execution of works, was secured by the security company "Security Guard Montenegro" in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Persons and Property, which was hired by "Vodovod i kanalizacija" doo, and that the persons from the aforementioned company who are engaged in the security of this facility are obliged to perform the tasks of physical and technical protection of the facility, in accordance with the aforementioned Law.

"Physical protection of a facility, in accordance with the Law, implies the direct presence and activity of persons who perform protection tasks within and around the protected facility within the boundaries of the protected area, in order to prevent unlawful actions directed against property, persons and objects being protected, while technical protection implies a set of actions and measures that, in order to prevent unlawful actions directed against property, persons and objects being protected, are carried out using technical means and protection devices within the facility, around the facility and within the boundaries of the protected area," the Police Directorate concluded.
