Man from Berane arrested for illegally possessing weapons and explosives

Police officers of the Regional Security Center "North" - Berane Security Department, undertaking activities to combat the misuse of all types of weapons, with a special emphasis on the possession of weapons in illegal possession, have deprived AA (23) from Berane of his liberty, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives, the Police Directorate announced.

Police suspect that he was in unauthorized possession of a rifle of unknown make and caliber, which was found by police officers during a vehicle inspection on March 25, 2026.

"The suspect AA will be brought before the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berane, with a criminal report, on suspicion of having committed the aforementioned criminal offense," the UP said.

The Police Directorate points out that officers from the Berane Security Department have also filed a criminal complaint with the competent prosecutor against JG (25) and MP (34) from Berane, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of illegal possession and carrying of weapons and explosives. The suspect MP sold JG a rifle for 150 euros in March 2026. The criminal complaint against these two persons was filed in the regular procedure.

"Officers of the Police Directorate will continue with intensive controls and operational activities aimed at detecting and suppressing weapons in illegal possession. The safety of citizens remains the priority of the Police, and a decisive fight against all forms of illegal possession of weapons will be carried out without exception," the Police Directorate concluded in a statement.
