Ahead of the government reshuffle, the leading candidate for the new Minister of Transport is New Serbian Democracy official and director of Podgorica's Putevi, Radoš Zečević. In a statement to TV Podgorica, he points out that his priority in this position would be the harmonization of domestic regulations with European regulations, which he sees as one of the key parameters for improving the transport system and approaching European standards.

"That's number one. You know the deadlines themselves are tight and there's a lot that needs to be done. You know how the opposition comments that they don't have time to read and the like, and I'm saying that anyone who wants to read always has enough time," Zečević points out.

Zečević also lists other priorities - emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development, improving road safety, and more efficient maintenance of the traffic network.

"The privatization of the airport is also a big job, as is the start of work on the extension of the highway and other regional roads. In the next few years, Montenegro will be a big construction site," he says.

He emphasizes that the city's Putevi company has achieved significant results in improving road infrastructure - around 250 kilometers of roads have been reconstructed, at least half of which are rural. He also highlights the financial results.

"When I took over the position, the revenue was around seven million euros, 2025 ended with 21 and a half million euros, which is almost three times more. It is a completely new company that does serious work with a lot of new machinery," says Zečević.

He cites the Kuči Quarry project as an example.

"And you are witnessing these days a large quarry project and now the opposition is raising dust and making a case that does not exist and we have agreed with the people from Kuče, now we are waiting for the opinion of the Environmental Protection Agency if it does not pose a threat - the deal has fallen through," Zečević points out.

He says that the new projects will further improve the road network and traffic connections in Podgorica.

"That's on the regular transport, we are expanding another ten thousand square meters so that this transport becomes a serious company that can meet the task of transporting citizens. A technical inspection of the company and municipal vehicles is being carried out there, and the company bought the building with its own funds," he concludes.

When asked who could replace him as director of Putevo, Zečević replied that he would not name names, but said that it would be someone from New Serbian Democracy.
