"This initiative represents a continuation of cooperation aimed at improving the waste management system, through which selected packaging waste is transformed into concrete and useful products for the community. In this way, waste gains new value and is returned to citizens in the form of permanent infrastructure intended for the youngest," they said in a statement.
The donated bench, made from recycled materials, will, they say, provide additional space for children to play and relax, but will also send a strong message about the importance of a responsible attitude towards waste and nature.
The Green Wave emphasizes that the goal of such initiatives is to show how sustainable practices can have a direct and visible impact on the quality of life in the community.
"Through cooperation with partners from the economy, we want to show that proper waste management can result in concrete benefits for the community. This bench is a symbol of that process, from waste to a product that remains to benefit children and future generations," said Jelena Rakčević from Zeleni talas.
“At One&Only Portonovi, we believe that sustainability is not only a responsibility, but also an opportunity to contribute to the community in which we operate through concrete actions. We are extremely proud that part of the packaging waste generated in our hotel, through cooperation with the Green Wave organization, has been given new value and transformed into a bench that will serve children in the JPU “Naša radost”. This initiative represents a concrete example of the circular economy in practice, where waste does not end up as a burden on the environment, but becomes a resource that is returned to the community in the form of permanent and useful infrastructure. We will continue to develop projects that encourage responsible resource management, waste reduction and strengthening ties with the local community, with the aim of creating a more sustainable environment for future generations.” One&Only Portonovi emphasized.
They add that this initiative is particularly valuable because the bench is made from packaging waste generated at the One&Only Portonovi hotel, which was given a new purpose through a selection and recycling process. In this way, the full circle of sustainability is closed, from responsible waste management within the hotel system to its return to the community in the form of a useful and durable product.
