The number, as they stated, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and was established within the Inter-sectoral Working Group for Establishing a Mechanism for the Safety of Journalists.
They call on journalists and media workers to use this line in situations where they are exposed to threats, attacks or other forms of pressure, so that the authorities can react in a timely manner and provide the necessary support.
"The establishment of the toll-free line was initiated through the activities of the Media Union of Montenegro, and implemented with the support of the Mtel company, as a contribution to strengthening the system of protection of journalists and other media professionals in Montenegro," the Media Union points out.
The launch of this line is one of the activities envisaged by the Media Strategy of Montenegro 2023–2027.
"We would like to remind you that the Government recently formed an Inter-sectoral Working Group to establish a mechanism for the safety of journalists, whose task is, among other things, to coordinate the work of competent institutions in cases of threats and attacks on journalists and to provide free legal and psychological support to those affected. Since the beginning of the Working Group's work on March 4, six reports have been received from journalists, which the Working Group has acted upon," the Media Union of Montenegro concluded.
