The modernisation of the Army of Montenegro (AVCG) and the defence sector is one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Defence, announced State Secretary in that department Sandra Radević, pointing out that last year Montenegro allocated almost 43 percent of its defence budget for these purposes.

The Ministry of Defense announced that Radević participated in the European Defense Exhibition and Conference in Brussels (BEDEX), and that she spoke with the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Belgium, Theo Franken, on the sidelines of the event.

It is stated that Radević and Franken discussed the security situation and geopolitical circumstances that led to the currentization of the issue of the importance of the field of defense production.

It is emphasized that they concluded that at this moment it is important to maintain the unity of the transatlantic community gathered in the NATO alliance and to continuously work on strengthening the European pillar of defense.

It is added that sustainable investment in defense is particularly important on this path, with a focus on equipping military capacities.

Radević said that the modernization of the Army and the defense sector in general is one of the key priorities of the Ministry of Defense.

"She informed the interlocutor that in 2025, Montenegro allocated 42.83% of its defense budget for these purposes and said that this trend would continue, with a gradual increase in the defense budget in the coming period," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Radević, they said, emphasized that, in addition to implementing tasks on the NATO agenda, Montenegro remains maximally focused on the path of European integration, which we expect to result in full membership in the European Union by the end of 2028.

The Ministry of Defense reminded that BEDEX is an international exhibition at which more than 200 exhibitors presented modern products and innovative solutions in the field of defense industry.

The Ministry of Defense delegation visited the stands of leading international manufacturers in this field, focusing on offerings that are in line with priorities in the area of ​​strengthening national defense and military capabilities.
