The Novska portal writes that for the first time in four years, a case of peer violence or a dishonorable act by a peer has occurred?
"There was that situation at the end of February, to which we responded strongly with the message that we are a school that does not tolerate any form of violence. The students who participated in the incident were given adequate educational and disciplinary measures by the Teachers' Council," confirmed the principal, Ljiljana Karanović, to the Novski portal.
He specifies that the school immediately informed the Parents' Council and the School Board about the case. It reported the incident to the police and informed the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation about everything. Karanović states that their institution does a lot of work on education and prevention of peer violence.
"Workshops are regularly held at the school to combat violence, and children are involved in various extracurricular activities aimed at spreading empathy, respect, and valuing the rights and freedoms of every individual. The school's duty is to protect the rights of every student and to promptly respond to any information about any conflict situation," says Karanović.
The Herceg Novi police immediately dealt with this case and informed state institutions, primarily the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, the Head of the Herceg Novi Security Department, Miodrag Knežević, told Novski portal.
"All the actors of the event were with us, children with their parents. The processing of the children is underway, possibly also the parents if it is determined that there were failures in raising or neglecting the children. There is no criminal offense here, but there is misdemeanor liability. This is about peer violence, we are acting on the prosecutor's order and I believe that everything else is at the level of a misdemeanor report against the two students, because they are minors. Basically, we have taken all measures and actions within our jurisdiction in accordance with the report from the school, in cooperation with the competent Prosecutor's Office and the Center for Social Work," says Knežević.
The Ivan Goran Kovačić High School has 1,060 students. Incidents are bound to happen sometimes, and the administration says they are proud because they do everything they can to prevent violence among children, and in this case they reacted immediately, humanely and procedurally.
