Vuksanović assessed that the deadline for completing the Tivat–Jaz Boulevard by the end of May, announced by Minister Filip Radulović, is realistically achievable.
"As for our Traffic Directorate, as we have been announcing for the last few months, although it has caused a certain amount of doubt, based on the dynamics that have been observed so far, we can freely say that these works will be completed. This is as far as the asphalt works themselves are concerned, that is, asphalt on four traffic lanes by the start of the summer tourist season, that is, specifically by the end of May," he said.
Vuksanović adds that in the next 15 days we expect the asphalting of most of the Boulevard section to be completed, while the last kilometer with three roundabouts and a bridge will remain in the final stages of work.
"Currently, as you know, this section of the Boulevard consists of 9 phases. So, out of the 9 phases concluded by the end of this week, 8 phases will be under asphalt, meaning all 4 traffic lanes. In addition, the section that has 3 roundabouts has one large bridge, and that last kilometer that is not finished, that is what we have to finish in the next 15 days or so and bring these asphalt works to an end," he adds.
He said that the works were carried out without completely stopping traffic, and that temporary diversions with better flow are expected after completion.
"The main thing to emphasize is that for a period of more than two years, we have not had a single day or hour of total traffic disruption on this section. So, the works were constantly carried out under traffic, and this will continue until the very end. What is coming after that is that we will have a possible redirection from 4 to 2 lanes, it all depends on whether there will be any work. We plan to continue with the works, which in any case will not disrupt the traffic itself, which will take place on the side. Also, what I must emphasize is that in any case, the flow rate on this section of the Adriatic Highway will be much better than it was before the start of the works," said Vuksanović.
The Director of the Traffic Administration says that no more congestion is expected on this section, and in the long term, further traffic relief is planned through, as he states, resolving critical points and building bypasses.
"As for the traffic jams themselves on this 16.5-kilometer section, there will be absolutely none, and our further motive is to solve further traffic jams, that is, in Tivat itself, and by building a future bypass - around Budva. So, as far as this part of the highway, that is, the current Boulevard, is concerned, the problem of traffic jams will certainly be solved in the long run," emphasizes Vuksanović.
He also adds that this season will also see smaller traffic jams on the aforementioned road.
"What we are working hard on, and what is now in the hands of the Municipality of Tivat, is to conduct the selection of bidders for the development of technical documentation for the Boulevard through Tivat, specifically from the end of the Boulevard - what we are currently working on - to the roundabout at Seljanova. Also, as you know, the selection of contractors for the future Budva bypass has been completed, so various activities are constantly taking place to solve the problem of bottlenecks, especially in the south of our country," he concluded.
