"The Summit was opened by the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, who expressed his satisfaction with the Summit being held in Montenegro, emphasizing that the presence of high-ranking parliamentary delegations confirms the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in times of global political, security and social challenges. He emphasized that dialogue, trust and responsibility are more necessary today than ever, and that parliaments must remain places of meeting and cooperation, not division," said Mandić in a post on the social network iks (X).
Speaking about the role of Montenegro, the President of the Parliament recalled that it is, as stated, a country that deeply understands the importance of peace and stability, emphasizing that stability is preserved through wisdom, mutual respect and readiness for agreement. He emphasized that Montenegro, as the first member of the European Union, remains committed to the values of peace, democracy, stability and regional cooperation.
Mandić said that there is no alternative to peace, especially at a time when conflicts are present in both Eastern Europe and the Middle East. He stated that every appeal for peace, humanitarian initiative and diplomatic effort has special moral and political weight.
In his address, he also pointed out the importance of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, which, as they say, has been confirming for two decades that the Mediterranean represents an area of shared destiny for peoples, cultures and civilizations. He stressed that this area should be seen as a bridge of cooperation, understanding and common progress, and not as a line of division.
"The President of the Parliament assessed that the Summit in Budva will contribute to strengthening political dialogue, restoring trust in multilateral institutions and affirming the central role of parliaments in protecting democratic processes, concluding that the Parliament of Montenegro remains a committed member of the PAM and believes that joint action can provide a stronger response to the challenges of security, economic development, environmental protection, migration and the preservation of human dignity," he concluded.
