"During the celebration of the 81st anniversary of Victory Day, from midnight on May 8 to May 10, the Russian side declares a ceasefire," the ministry said on Telegram.
Zelensky: Strange and inadequate logic
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that Russia's limited ceasefire exposes the "strange and inadequate" logic of its leaders.
"They want permission from Ukraine to hold their parade, to safely go out on the square once a year for an hour, and then continue to kill, kill our people and wage war," Zelensky said.
"The Russians are already talking about attacks after May 9. Strange and certainly inadequate logic of the Russian leadership," he added.
Zelensky on the role of the USA
Zelensky also said that the United States can best maintain peace in Europe, as it did during World War II, by demonstrating a "just and strong stance against the aggressor."
The Ukrainian president said earlier on Thursday that Russia was continuing to ignore a ceasefire proposed by Ukraine starting on May 6.
