Montenegrin football players will start the new year with two friendly matches in front of their home crowd in Podgorica.

Mirko Vučinić's team will first face Andorra on Friday, March 27th, while four days later they will host the Slovenian team at the City Stadium.

It will be an opportunity for the national team to start the year in a competitive rhythm and check their form ahead of the challenge in the Nations League.

"We want to present ourselves in the best possible light in these friendly matches. As the coach says, the most important thing is concentration and fight, so the result will come. It is important that we get into the best possible shape before the matches in the Nations League," said Russian Akron midfielder Stefan Lončar at today's briefing with reporters.

Last year was a forgettable year from the perspective of our team, and the sturdy Nikšić native believes that only good results will bring the crowd back to the stadium.

"We analyzed them as much as we could, but we still have three days so we will use them. We will prepare to enter as well as possible and win because that is the only way we will bring the audience back to the stadium," Lončar points out.

Mirko Vučinić took over the helm of the "Falcon" in September last year.

"The coach brought something positive. He's been here for a long time, he knows what we did well and what we didn't, so he tried to change what wasn't working. He keeps telling us that we need to die for each other and that the results will come then," Lončar emphasized.

The former Sutjeska footballer believes that our national team cannot threaten anyone at the moment, which was also shown in the matches with Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands.

"We are not Brazil or Spain, so we can say that we will beat someone by four or five points. It is not easy to beat anyone today. Everyone thought that we would easily beat Gibraltar or the Faroe Islands, but that is not realistic. We feel bad when we do not win, but we cannot promise the result in advance, what it will be and how it will be. We hope that we will play these games properly and use them as good preparation for the gathering in May," says Lončar.

His Akron is in a results crisis and is fighting a fierce battle for survival.

"I'm not satisfied because we haven't won seven games in a row, we're fighting for survival but we hope we can improve," concluded Lončar, who has made 23 appearances for the senior national team.
