While firefighters had to extinguish an open fire today, caused by burning trash and waste, on Kakaricka Gora – containers full of trash are a common example in one of the elite city neighborhoods – City Quarter.
Waste is often left next to containers, and an additional problem is its burning. Which spreads an unpleasant smell and smoke between buildings. Citizens say that the situation is repeated and ask – can this part of Podgorica be cleaner?
They warn of the harmfulness and consequences and call on the authorities to react.
Residents of the Siti Kvarta say that the solution is not only in more frequent waste collection, but also in a more responsible attitude towards the space in which everyone lives.
And the councilors have also spoken out. Since February, Podgorica residents have been paying 33 percent higher bills for waste disposal and collection, reminded DPS councilor Stefan Ćulafić.
"Everything is as clean as in the "Kamenolom" affair - just don't criticize so you don't put someone in the dock, and if you see garbage anywhere, close your eyes, take a deep breath and move on," said DPS councilor Stefan Ćulafić.
PES councilor Stevan Kandić reacted to Ćulafić's announcement.
"A new episode of opposition theater - DPS councilors are ambushed next to a container, waiting for the moment to take a picture of it while it is full and declare a communal collapse. An hour later, the same container is empty," said Kandić.
He tells DPS that if, as he says, they have no respect for the public, they at least have respect for the workers of Čistoća who work in three shifts 365 days a year, cleaning more than 4,000 containers.
