"This approach, without a single publicly available document, without a clear strategy and without consultations with citizens, is a textbook example of irresponsible and arbitrary government," said DPS Nikšić.
After, as they said, the scandalous announcement by the minister, today, they assess, it has become completely clear - not only citizens are against this dangerous and irresponsible intention, but also the professional public, environmentalists and the steelworks workers themselves.
"First, the Nikšić authorities planned a factory for processing animal by-products on the banks of Gračanica, and the current director of DOO Komunalno fought hard for it, so the mayor silenced those voices on the eve of the elections, again for the sake of votes, and planned the fashionable settlement of Sunčani grad nearby. Now Minister Joković appears again and places a center for the destruction of infected animals in the Ironworks, where the construction of solar panels and the disposal and reloading of garbage have been located in the meantime," DPS Nikšić point out.
They add that if it weren't sad, it would be funny and all this, they assess, further exposes all the superficiality, improvisation and lack of transparency of this work of local and state authorities. There is no publicly available project documentation, no clear information about the technology, no confirmation that the space is even intended for this purpose - but there is an obvious intention of the authorities to push the decision through by force, without dialogue and without accountability.
DPS Nikšić asks whether employees at the Steelworks will now work in an incinerator for infected animals and whether the government's plan is to permanently turn Nikšić into a dumping ground for all types of waste?
The DPS Nikšić party said that this is not development. This, they point out, is the brutal imposition of decisions without knowledge, without a plan and without responsibility. They are asking Minister Joković, if, as they said, he did not dream a dream and poke his finger into the Steelworks circle like his colleague Radunović, to urgently publish the complete documentation for this project and organize a mandatory public hearing with the participation of experts, environmentalists and citizens. If not, the DPS will launch an initiative to clearly determine responsibility for the attempt to implement such a project outside the law.
"But in the end, let's ask ourselves, what are the professionals and citizens looking for here, when we have an electrician," said the DPS Nikšić ironically.
