A session of the Democratic Council, the highest advisory body of Democratic Montenegro, was held in Podgrica, where the current political situation in the country was discussed, as well as the strategic directions of the party's actions in the coming period. The session was also attended by the president of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, who addressed the members of the Council with an introductory presentation, it was announced from the Democrats.

As they said, Bečić pointed out that Montenegro is in a historically important phase, in which the chapter of the captured state is finally closing, and the time of strengthening institutions, rule of law and responsible security policy is opening.

"For years, we have been warning about the scale of criminal octopuses that have penetrated the foundations of the system. Today, when those who have been above the law for decades are brought to justice, it is clear that Montenegro is changing. We support, accelerate and defend this change. It is time for the state to serve citizens, not criminal structures, and for the security sector to be a pillar of stability, not a training ground for cigarette smuggling, drugs and political manipulation," said Bečić.

Also, Bečić emphasized that the reform process in security institutions is unstoppable and will further intensify in the coming period.

"We are healing the sector that was most deeply trapped and destroyed. We are acquiring modern equipment, investing in technology, increasing the MUP budget to a historic level and creating the conditions for hundreds of young professionals to enter the service. Never again will Montenegro be held hostage by the centers of power that hid behind institutions to protect themselves from justice. That time is over," Bečić pointed out.

The members of the Democratic Council also supported the process of comprehensive re-registration of the membership and tour of the field, which the Democrats are conducting to meet the tenth anniversary of the party's existence. The council assessed that this is one of the most organized, massive and transparent political processes in modern Montenegro, which further strengthens the party's infrastructure and strengthens the connection with the citizens.

"Democrats have always been on the ground, with people, in every part of the country. That's why we have one of the most stable organizations and the cleanest political balance sheet. We will continue to visit every home, respect every person, listen to every suggestion and together build a Montenegro that deserves more, more order, more justice, more security, more dignity," the members of the Council stated in their discussions.

At the session, it was stated that the attempts of certain entities to undermine the fight against the mafia, abuse events that take place even in the most developed countries of the world, attack institutions and defend actors from the docks represent desperate attempts to stop the process of cleaning the system. The Council assessed that such attacks are "only the last convulsions of the centers that are losing ground".

"The attempts of criminal organizations to destabilize the system and stop reforms according to a well-known pattern are also transparent: attempt to kill members of the opposite clan, make noise with the help of various actors, invent political responsibility, ask for dismissal, and if you succeed, refer to "established practice" so that you can always remove those who are in the way, block the system and reforms, and paralyze the state. Those who collapsed the system cannot talk about security today. Neither can those who for decades did not defend the state from of crime to criticize those who free it today. Montenegro is on the right path, and the Democrats will be the guarantor that they will never deviate from that path," said the members of the Council.

The Democratic Council concluded that the Democrats are entering the next period stronger, more united and ready than ever to protect the public interest, continue the reform process and make a full contribution to the stability and European future of Montenegro.
