US President Donald Trump has called on Iran to agree to a deal that would end US and Israeli attacks, warning that further strikes would follow otherwise.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting at the White House, Trump said that Tehran has an opportunity to permanently abandon its nuclear ambitions and embark on a "new path."

"We'll see if they want to do it. If not, we'll be their worst nightmare. In the meantime, we'll continue to destroy them," Trump said.

His statements come at a time of heightened tensions and continued military operations by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran, while diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement continue.
