The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the attack on a school in Iran was carried out from the US Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates.

The IRGC announced that it had carried out a retaliatory strike on a US base from which, it claims, a school in the south of the country was attacked, Fars News Agency reported.

„Meta je bila vazdušna baza američkih terorista Al-Dafra u UAE. Zločinački napad na školu ‘Šadžare Tajebe’, u kojem je poginulo 165 učenica, izveden je sa te baze“, navodi se u objavljenom saopštenju vojnog krila.

Earlier on Friday, NBC television reported that the White House had admitted to Congress behind closed doors that the strikes in the school area were carried out by American soldiers.

Previously, The New York Times conducted its own analysis of satellite imagery, which suggested that the United States may have targeted an IRGC naval base nearby.

The girls' educational institution was hit on February 28th – the day the US and Israel launched a major military campaign against Iran. According to the latest figures, 171 people were killed, most of them children.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Western media had largely ignored information about the mass killing of children and called the lack of reaction to this incident "monstrous."
