Turkey's inflation falls to lowest level in four years

Turkey's annual inflation slowed to 30.87 percent in March, from 31.53 percent in February, the lowest level in four years, official data showed.

This figure represents the lowest annual increase in consumer prices since December 2021, when inflation, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), was 36.08 percent.
On an annual basis, the highest price increases were recorded in education (51.97 percent), housing (42.06 percent) and transportation (34.35 percent).

The smallest increases were recorded in clothing and footwear (7.2 percent), furniture and household equipment (20.2 percent), and information and communication (24.12 percent), Anadolu reports.

TurkStat said the main expenditure groups with the highest share were food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation and housing. Annual inflation in these categories was 32.36 percent, 34.35 percent and 42.06 percent, respectively.
