The Kazakh of Russian origin was eliminated by Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtseva in a three-set upset – 3:6, 6:1, 7:6 (4).
Rybakina entered the match with force, took a 5:1 lead, and then settled the opening set with a 6:3 win.
The world number two's game "fell apart" in the second set, which her rival managed to take advantage of and convincingly lead the match into the third set with a 6:1 lead.
In the deciding set, the Ukrainian was leading 3:0 and 4:2, but Rybakina fought her way to a super tiebreak, which is played to 10 points.
Starodubceva fared better, winning 10:4 and achieving the victory of her career, and also reaching the third round of Roland Garros for the second year in a row, which is her best result in all four Grand Slam tournaments.
In the next round, she will play against Haley Baptist or Siu Wang, who eliminated our Danka Kovinić at the start.
