Marija celebrated her 18th birthday just a few days ago, and at the end of last season she was included in the first team of Buducnost, after playing for all the younger teams.
She played for the U15 and 17 teams, with which she won a bronze medal. As an extremely talented player, she joined the first team of our branch, the Podgorica team, for which she played two seasons in the IA ŽCKL and the WABA2 league. Last season, she played 12 games in the First League of Montenegro for Podgorica (average 12 points and 5 rebounds), five games in the WABA2 league, two in the WABA league.
"I am very happy that today I signed my first professional contract with the club where I developed through all the selections and I hope that together we will continue to achieve top results. Thank you to the people from the club who recognized my talent, effort and commitment and I will do my best to bring as much joy as possible to everyone who supports us, together with my coaches and teammates," said Sekulović, reported by Budućnost.
The talented player marked the Bemax League of Primary Schools in Podgorica in May 2023, when, as a student of the "Pavle Rovinski" Primary School, she was the top scorer in the competition.
She won titles with the cadets and juniors, and was recently the MVP of the Montenegrin Junior League.
She was a member of the cadet and junior national teams. With the U18 team last summer, she won eighth place at the European Championship.
"We are certain that Marija has a bright future ahead of her and that she will be our important asset in the years to come," said Budućnost.
