For the Montenegrin football public, the center of attention will be Nikola Krstović. His Atalanta will host one of the main candidates for the trophy, Bayern Munich, in Bergamo tonight.
The team from Bergamo had to go the hard way to the round of 16. The “Goddess” eliminated Borussia Dortmund in the play-offs with a 4:2 aggregate score. After losing 2:0 in Germany, Atalanta played a fantastic match in front of their fans in the second leg and won 4:1. Bayern, on the other hand, earned a place in the last 16 directly, as the second-place team in the league stage.
An interesting match is also expected between Newcastle and Barcelona. The first leg will be played at St. James' Park, and the Catalans are the favourites to go into this clash. These rivals have already met in the league stage, when Barcelona won 2-1 on the Island thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford.
The battle for the quarter-finals will also be fought in Madrid, where Atletico will host Tottenham at the Wanda Metropolitano. The London club enters the duel after a poor run in the championship, where they have lost five times, but they left a much better impression in the Champions League and as fourth-placed team they won a direct place in the round of 16. Atletico, on the other hand, had to go through the play-offs, where they effectively eliminated Club Brugge in a two-legged tie with a 7:4 aggregate score.
The program opens at the standard time of 6:45 PM with Liverpool and Galatasaray. The first match will be played at the scorching Rams Park in Istanbul, the stadium where Juventus and the sensational Bode/Glimt have already stumbled this season.
