"We wanted to play a game we could be proud of. And we succeeded to some extent. We changed the plan, put more pressure on them, even though we knew their strength... I want to congratulate Bayern and my colleague Vincent Kompany. We probably faced the most powerful team in the world. We just have to accept the verdict of the pitch with honesty and humility," said Paladino after the match.
He said that he got the impression that the two teams were playing different sports.
"We faced a team that was too strong, complete in every way. No matter how you approach them, they will cause you problems. Compared to them, we in Italy are lagging behind a lot. You may not see it from home, but on the pitch it all shows. They are different in terms of motor skills, they are far ahead of us in terms of quality. We were excellent against Dortmund in the second leg, but you have to know that Bayern still represent another level of football. When you see how they do it, you think it is a different sport. How are we going to get closer to that level? We have to start from the younger categories, to focus more on the individual aspect. That is where Italian football is weakest. We need an in-depth analysis," admits the Italian expert.
