With this selection, Koljenšić has once again confirmed his status as one of the most respected referees in the region and Europe, and is also the only representative of Montenegro among the elite group of referees for the final of the highest quality European club competition. Interestingly, only Ilija Belošević was selected from Serbia this year, which further emphasizes the weight and significance of Koljenšić's success.
The decision to delegate was made by the Euroleague refereeing department, headed by the former legendary Spanish referee Dani Herezuela.
In addition to Koljenšić and Belošević, the Euroleague playoff roster includes: Jordi Aliaga, Carlos Cortes, Juan Carlos Garcia, Miguel Angel Perez, Emilio Perez, Carlos Peruga (Spain), Thomas Bissuel, Mehdi Difallah (France), Tomislav Hordov, Luka Kardum, Sreten Radović (Croatia), Damir Javor, Milan Nedović, Sašo Petek, Saša Pukl (Slovenia), Kristaps Konstantinovs, Olegs Latiševs (Latvia), Marcin Kowalski, Jakub Zamojski (Poland), Robert Lottermoser (Germany), Emin Moğulkoç (Turkey), Saulius Racys, Artūras Šukys, Gytis Vilius (Lithuania), Borys Ryzhykh (Ukraine) and Sergio Silva (Portugal).
Koljenšić has had an exceptionally successful competitive year, which has been recognized at the highest level of European basketball. His selection is also a great success for the Basketball Federation of Montenegro, as well as the KSCG Referee Commission, which have been working particularly recently on improving the refereeing staff and creating conditions for the development of top referees.
-I was delighted by this decision of the Euroleague department, although it was expected, considering the grades I received from the controllers during the league part of the season. It is a great honor to be part of the Euroleague playoffs for the third time in a row. It is confirmation that work, dedication and sacrifice pay off. I am grateful to my family for their support, because without them none of this would be possible, as well as to the Basketball Association of Montenegro and the Referee Commission, who continuously give me the wind at my back, said Koljenšić, who does not forget to express his gratitude to the man who helped him a lot at the beginning of his career, the legendary Veselin - Beg Begović, a former successful referee and long-time head of the KSCG Referee Commission.
Koljenšić's new appointment once again confirms that Montenegrin basketball has its place on the biggest European stage – not only through players and clubs, but also through top referees.
