Domination in Crete: 22 medals for Montenegro

At the European Championships for all age categories, held in Crete (Greece) from March 14 to 21, the Montenegrin national team achieved an exceptionally notable result, winning a total of 22 medals, thus once again confirming the quality and continuity of good performances on the European stage.


In the senior competition, the most outstanding medal was won by Nataša Jeftić, who won the gold medal and the title of European champion in the -63 kg (fighting) category. Arso Milić (+94 kg) won the silver medal, while Lidija Čaković and Ljubica Nikčević won the bronze medal in the duo women's discipline, and the silver medal in the duo show women's discipline.

For the first time, a great result was achieved in the team competition, in the ne waza, where the national team won third place. The team consisted of: Branka Mujović, Nataša Jeftić, Kristina Radosavović, Jelena Jovanović, Jelena Vukčević, Andrija Vukčević, Pavle Đurišić, Aleksa Radulović, Srđan Bošković, Nikola Perović and Vuk Džudović.

In the under-21 competition, Andrija Golić, Kristina Radosavović (-63 kg) and Zmajević Nikola (+94 kg) won silver medals. Bronze medals went to Mugoša Pavle (+94 kg), Vladana Popović (+70 kg) and Nikola Vulević (-77 kg).

In the under-18 age group, Lazar Đoković (-85 kg) won the silver medal in the fighting system, while Elena Jovanović (+70 kg) won bronze in the ne-waza discipline.

In the under-16 competition, Andrea Milaš (-32 kg) won the gold medal. Silver medals went to Aleksandar Čejović (-77 kg) and Mija Vasiljević (+63 kg), while bronze medals were won by Miloš Buturović (+77 kg), Vanja Živković (-40 kg), Ognjen Marićević (-69 kg) and Boris Milovanović (-62 kg).

The national team was led by coaches Mladen Jokmanović, Mirjana Martinović and Arso Milić, while the head of the coaching staff was Dejan Vukčević.

"The achieved result, with a total of 22 medals, represents a strong confirmation of quality and dedicated work, as well as a clear indicator that Montenegrin competitors have the potential for even greater success on the international stage.

This performance confirms that dedicated work and a systematic approach pay off through top results and a stable place among the best in Europe.

"This success is also a great introduction to the next season, when Montenegro will host the European Senior Championships from May 31 to June 7, giving our competitors the opportunity to once again demonstrate their quality in front of the home audience and continue their series of outstanding results," said the President of the Federation, Miloš Ašanin.
