Increasingly, athletes have to take a break due to blood clots, and Dino Radončić is one of them.

The Montenegrin national team player announced on his Instagram profile that he has to take a 12-week break, as a blood clot was discovered in his left leg.

"Unfortunately, life sometimes changes plans when you least expect it. I was diagnosed with a blood clot in a vein in my left leg and I have a recovery period of about 12 weeks ahead of me and therefore the end of the season. The most important thing is that I am well and I am grateful that everything was discovered in time," wrote the 28-year-old basketball winger.

Radončić plays for Lejmo Coruña, which is first in the FEB Primera standings, i.e. the second tier of Spanish basketball. The goal is to qualify for the ACB league, and our national team player has averaged 9.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists this season.

"I would like to thank the Basket Korunja club, my teammates, the coaching staff and all the fans from the bottom of my heart. This is a club with great people working there, from the first day I felt like part of the family here and I gave my all on the court for our common goal - qualifying for the ACB league. That's why it's especially hard for me that I can't help the team on the court at this moment, but I also believe in the team that they will reach their goal."

Dino thanked Dr. Carlos Larinu and the club's entire medical team for taking care of him every day and providing him with tremendous support.

"I'm sure I'll come back stronger than ever. See you again - on the field or somewhere else, but this is certainly not goodbye," he told the A Coruña fans at the end.

If he recovers in 12 weeks, Radončić could theoretically play for Montenegro against Portugal and Romania in the last "window" of the first round of the World Basketball Championship qualifiers, but it is too early to think about that now.
