The first obstacle on the way is the Finnish national team. The first match is tomorrow (5:30 PM) in Vantaa, and the second leg is on Sunday (6 PM) in Podgorica.
"It was hard for me, in general, to watch all of that and the result itself, watching it on the small screen, and I couldn't help them. However, now the feeling is phenomenal, like every time I come to a national team gathering," said Bakić.
The "Lions" just eliminated Finland in the qualifiers for the last EHF Euro, winning both matches. First at home in a close match (29:28), and then much more easily in Vantaa (33:28).
"We shouldn't shy away from the role of favorites. We need to take a look at them a little bit because I don't know what kind of team they have. We've rejuvenated the team a lot, some new guys are now available to coach Dinar. Honestly, I expect to win both matches," said the 25-year-old native of Berane, and turned the film back to the previous duels with the Finns:
"In that first match, there were a lot of doubts about their game because we hadn't played against them before. However, now I think we can beat them again both away and at home. We are preparing well even though we have little time to prepare."
No one in our camp is still thinking about Slovenia, which awaits the winner of this two-legged tie in the play-off (in May).
"After that result from the European Championship, the focus is on these first two matches. First, let's justify that role as favorites, and then let's get ready for May and the matches with Slovenia," Aleksandar Bakić pointed out.
