A female student was found dead on the plateau in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade late last night. Police suspect that she fell from the fifth floor of the Faculty of Philosophy. The circumstances of the incident are being investigated by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office. The Director of the Police confirmed that interviews with responsible persons from the faculty are underway, and the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it has ordered the police to interview the dean and other employees of the Faculty of Philosophy, on suspicion that the criminal offense of "unconscionable work in the service" was committed.
A female student was found dead on the sidewalk in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade last night. Police officers were on the scene, and it was announced that there were indications that there had been a previous incident inside the building.
"We reasonably assume and suspect that the death of a person who fell from a height occurred. Bearing in mind that there was an open window on the fifth floor of the faculty building above. On the fifth floor of the faculty, we found an open window and under the window we found a box with a certain amount of pyrotechnics, there was also spray or powder from which we clearly saw that a fire extinguisher was used to extinguish, most likely some fire that had been caused," said Dragan Vasiljević, director of the police.
Members of the Criminal Police Directorate entered the Faculty of Philosophy today. They spent several hours there, all on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade. The main subject of their investigation is the shortcomings in the work of the dean and other employees.
"The prosecutor's office ordered the acquisition of all necessary documentation from the Faculty of Philosophy that regulates security at the faculty, work organization, entry procedures into the faculty building, faculty working hours, and other facts and circumstances in order to determine whether the faculty's security was in compliance with the relevant regulations or with acts adopted by the faculty itself," said Vasiljević.
Any shortcomings in the work will also be investigated by the education inspectorate.

On behalf of the faculty and the entire academic community, Filozofski expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased student, her friends and colleagues. They asked the media and the public for their understanding and respect for the family's privacy.
"This is an extremely difficult time for all our students and employees. An investigation is underway, and the Faculty is fully cooperating with the relevant institutions and will provide all necessary support to determine all the circumstances of this event," the Faculty of Philosophy said in an announcement.
Due to this event, the Speaker of the Assembly urgently convened a session of the Education Committee for tomorrow.
The pro-regime media have already used the tragic event to blame, I quote, the "Blokareddar sect" for the student's death, and to hold the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and the rector of the University of Belgrade accountable.
"And then, for their political ambitions, someone exhausted this country for a year by using the faculties as a platform for political promotion, and that is the broader background to all of this. I wonder where all this pyrotechnics came from? Who allowed students to stay at that faculty at that time, the question arises," said Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stanković.
The sensationalist and unethical media reporting on this case was jointly condemned by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, the Press Council, UNS and NUNS.
They called on all media outlets not to further traumatize the victim's family with their reporting, to respect privacy and pain, and to refrain from publishing disturbing content, unverified claims, and politically motivated interpretations.
Citizens pay tribute to the slain student in front of the Faculty of Philosophy
Students, professors and citizens gathered tonight in front of the Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy to pay tribute to the student who was killed last night on the plateau in front of the higher education institution.
An N1 reporter reported that they were leaving flowers and lighting candles.
The academic community previously called for a rally in memory of the student whose body was found on the sidewalk in front of the Faculty of Philosophy last night.
The Stari Grad police station received the call at 10:40 p.m., and the investigation is still ongoing.
The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade is investigating the circumstances of the incident, and today the dean of the faculty, Danijel Sinani, was also questioned.
