"It is interesting that the resignation comes a month after my initiative for a hearing, or an hour before the scheduled hearing of Milo Đukanović. The citizens of Montenegro are wise enough to assess for themselves whether this is a coincidence or an attempt to turn off the microphone of the Inquiry Committee at the very moment when Đukanović was supposed to provide certain answers," Leković stated.
He says he thinks the main reason lies in the fact that the Inquiry Committee has begun to "unearth" some long-forgotten truths.
"And especially the biggest one, that the tobacco mafia and the police drug cartel were created by the then state leadership of Montenegro together with the then leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is precisely such a policy that for years created an environment in which criminal structures grew stronger, and later entered into bloody clashes with each other. That is why today some people clearly mind reopening these issues and discussing them before institutions and the public," Leković points out.
Also, according to him, it is important to emphasize that the opposition is not equal to DPS, nor can it be reduced to Milo Đukanović.
"I am convinced that a new chairman of the Committee from the opposition will be proposed very soon, as well as a new deputy from the parliamentary majority, so that the Inquiry Committee can continue its work in the interest of the public and the full clarification of the facts," concluded Leković.
