Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković led the Montenegrin delegation at the 5th Istanbul International Water Forum, held on 5 and 6 May in Istanbul, Turkey. The forum brought together ministers, representatives of international organisations and decision-makers from around the world, with the aim of strengthening global cooperation in water resources management in the context of climate change.

The delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management included Srđan Zekić, Director of the Directorate for Water Management, and Ivan Lalić, Director of the Water Administration. Minister Joković participated in a closed ministerial roundtable, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey, Ibrahim Yumaklı. On this occasion, he presented the key challenges that Montenegro faces - increased risk of floods and droughts, pressures on water quality and the need to strengthen institutional resilience - and the concrete measures that our country is taking in response to these challenges. The importance of regional cooperation and joint action in transboundary water management was also highlighted, emphasizing that partnership, knowledge exchange and responsible policy are the basis for long-term resilience and sustainable development.

Bilateral meeting with Minister Yumaklı Within the framework of the Forum, Minister Joković held a bilateral meeting with Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı and his associates. The talks once again confirmed the exceptionally good, friendly and partnership relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Turkey - relations based on mutual respect, shared values ​​and a strong will for cooperation. The successful cooperation in the field of agriculture and the positive results of the implementation of the agreement between the relevant ministries to date were particularly emphasized, with a shared commitment to its further improvement.

The significant investment potential of Montenegro was emphasized and an invitation was extended to Turkish investors to invest in the areas of water, forestry and fruit and vegetable processing, plant production, and livestock. It was emphasized that Montenegro's European path further opens up space for new partnerships, and that Turkish companies are welcome as reliable partners in the development of the Montenegrin economy.

During the working visit to Istanbul, the Montenegrin delegation held a series of meetings with representatives of the participating countries of the Forum, as well as with representatives of Turkish companies operating in the field of water supply and water infrastructure, reviewing concrete opportunities for future cooperation and the implementation of joint projects. Minister Vladimir Joković also met with representatives of Montenegrin diaspora associations, with whom he discussed the importance of maintaining ties with the home country, improving cooperation and the possibilities of stronger inclusion of the diaspora in development and investment projects in Montenegro.
