Ibrahimović: Closing Chapter 21 is a new step for Montenegro towards membership in the European Union

Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović participated in the Intergovernmental Conference between the European Union and Montenegro, held in Brussels, as a member of the delegation led by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.

"At the conference, Montenegro closed the negotiation chapter 21 - Trans-European Networks, which belongs to the cluster of four negotiation processes. The closure of this chapter is a clear indicator that Montenegro has the capacity to connect, improve and develop transport, energy and telecommunications systems in accordance with European standards," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Montenegro announced.

As the department points out, the holding of the Intergovernmental Conference and the closing of this chapter confirms the continuity of reform activities and represents a strong signal of the European Union's confidence in Montenegro's progress in the accession process.

Minister Ibrahimović points out that by closing this chapter, we have further demonstrated that we have the capacity to improve our transport, energy and telecommunications systems in line with European standards.

"This is not just a technical success - this is a strong message of confidence from the European Union in our progress and the reforms we are implementing," he said.

In the final phase of negotiations, he emphasizes, the goal is clear - to use knowledge and political credibility to fulfill all remaining obligations and for Montenegro to become the next member of the European Union.

"This is another important step closer to Montenegro's European future," Ibrahimović concluded.
