He made the remarks in response to former US President Barack Obama's message regarding the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. In his message on social media, Obama stated that "it is the responsibility of all of us to reject the idea that violence has any place in our democracy" and added that the incident is also a sobering reminder of the courage and sacrifice that US Secret Service agents show every day.
Bogdanović assesses that the former president of the United States and a serious man reacts in a moment of crisis without panic, without abuse, without fueling hatred, without political profiteering from someone else's misfortune.
"And here? Former President Milo Đukanović, during the tragedy in Cetinje, uttered a shameless untruth in order to upset the public and politically abuse the pain of the entire Montenegro. And he is not alone. A significant number of MPs and high-ranking officials that this irresponsible politician produced use every tragedy to trade in other people's tears, to turn pain into propaganda, and human misfortune into political ammunition," says Bogdanović.
Therefore, he adds, local politicians should learn from the better ones.
"You learn that in a tragedy, one should first be silent, sympathize, and help. You learn not to lie while the people are crying. You learn that serious people calm the public in crises, and do not fan the flames of the wounds of families and the state," concludes Bogdanović.
