Podgorica Waterworks owns 45 vehicles, of which 25 are cars, 11 trucks, five construction excavators and four special vehicles used for unblocking sewage systems. All vehicles, according to the spokeswoman, Mase Knezevic, use it every day, so it says that any significant increase in costs that has not been determined in advance has a negative impact on business.
"Because the prices of Podgorica Waterworks services are formed once a year, that is, the prices of services for 2026 were formed in April 2025, in accordance with the methodology prescribed by the Energy Regulatory Agency, and then this cost arising from the increase in fuel prices was not included in the price formation," said Knežević.
He emphasizes that the company does not have the legal ability to adjust prices during the year when other costs increase.
There will be no increase in the prices of services at the city company Čistoća, although the increase in fuel prices has a major impact on their business.
"We have between 50 and 60 vehicles of various purposes operating in the city every day, including garbage trucks, dump trucks, lifts, cleaners...", said a spokesperson for the Čistoća company, Senada Muleskovic.
He points out that this number of mechanization implies that the growth in fuel consumption on a monthly basis has increased in the previous period.
"However, this will not affect our business and the message to citizens is that this increase, as well as subsequent announcements, will not affect the quality of services, and that there will be no new price correction, bearing in mind that we recently made a price correction," said Mulešković.
The Zelenilo City Company says that they have not yet felt the consequences of the increase in fuel prices, because they had reserves in reserve, however, they explain that oil consumption is higher during the summer months and that a new surge in prices could affect their business, but not the citizens.
"We will try to ensure that our citizens do not feel the consequences of the increase in fuel prices, all regular activities will be implemented within the planned deadlines, priority will be given to maintaining public green areas, while investment activities will be implemented in accordance with the plan and program, i.e. the budget of the capital city," she said. Milica Vukcevic from the company "Zelenilo".
The Putevi company previously confirmed to RTV Podgorica that there will be no increase in the prices of public transport. Although the city services still do not have precise information about potential financial losses, since higher fuel prices have recently come into effect, they assure that there will be no disruption to business operations, nor an increase in the prices of services. They emphasize that major financial challenges due to the new situation with oil would be resolved at the city administration level.
