Parking service Podgorica expands network of "smart" parking lots

The process of modernizing public parking lots in the Capital City is in full swing. As part of digitalization and the introduction of modern electronic parking payment systems, Parking Service Podgorica has successfully modernized three important locations in the past month: the parking lot behind the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, the parking lot near the Church of Saint George under Gorica, and the parking lot in Block 5, the city company announced.

They explain that these parking lots, which previously operated with toll booths and cashiers, are now equipped with state-of-the-art terminals and an automatic license plate recognition system.

"Modernization continues according to the planned dynamics, and the goal is for all closed parking lots in Podgorica to receive a modern electronic payment system."

"By introducing "smart" solutions, the Capital City joins modern European metropolises, eliminating the need for paper tickets, reducing delays at ramps and enabling faster vehicle flow," said the Parking Service.

DRIVER'S INSTRUCTIONS: How to use the Smart parking device?

Given that the new system brings changes to the method of registration and payment, we have prepared a short guide for citizens:

ENTRY TO THE PARKING LOT: Upon arrival, a camera automatically reads your license plate and the ramp raises. No more taking paper tickets at the entrance, as the system uses your plate as identification.

PAYMENT PROCEDURE: Before returning to your vehicle, approach the self-service machine (toll station). Enter your car's license plate number on the screen. The machine will instantly display the time of your stay and the amount to be paid.

PAYMENT METHOD: Payment is made in cash (paper or coin), and the machine promptly returns change. Users can also pay by card.

EXIT: After making the payment, head towards the exit ramp. The camera will recognize your license plate again, the system will verify the payment, and the ramp will automatically raise without the need for any additional actions.

Special attention has been paid to the user experience, so all Smart terminals are connected to our operations center via speakerphone. A special button for direct contact with the operator is available at the exit, so that users can receive help or additional information on site at any time.

The modernization of the Parking Service represents a key step towards a more efficient and cleaner Podgorica, saving time for our fellow citizens, with complete transparency and digital control of all processes.
