Podgorica was today marked by the youngest poetry lovers – talented elementary school students gathered in the hall of the KIC "Budo Tomović" and showed their voice, emotions and courage for public performance through poetry. The event "Poems under Gorica" opened with performances by seven-year-olds.
"We are very much looking forward to this activity. The Children's Association has been nurturing the tradition of love for poetry and beautiful words for years. We are very glad that suburban and rural schools responded to our call, it makes us very happy!" said the director of the Children's Association Podgorica, Duška Šljivančanin.
For some of them, this is their first public appearance, while others are already ruling the scene.
The best were decided by an expert jury, which carefully monitored every detail – from expression and diction, to the overall stage impression.
"It is composed of literature professors, children's poets and writers, and drama artists, experts, actors, so we appreciate that they will have strict criteria," Šljivančanin points out.
And the jury's task is not easy.
Maybe the kids were singing someone else's lyrics today, but they still left something completely their own on stage.
"It seems that our children read and love poetry and are happy to recite it!" said the director.
