Tonight, the promotion of Milan Knežević's new book "I Will Not Give a Mandate" published by "Štampar Makarija" will be held in the large hall of the KIC "Zeta".

Knežević's book of satirical poetry on current topics has so far been promoted at the Nikšić Theater and the City Hall in Nikšić, at the NB "Radosav Ljumović" and KIC "Budo Tomović" in Podgorica, and at the 68th International Belgrade Book Fair, so the promotion in Zeta will be the sixth in a row.

The program in Zeta will be hosted by poet Ana Đurović, and the guest of the evening will be Dragan Koprivica, who will sing folk music hits and speak humorous aphorisms.

In the new collection, the author, through the voice of the people, satirically addresses the neuralgic themes of our time: corruption, nepotism and crime, along with the ups and downs of politicians from shady cabinets to the Spusk prison. Rising above the transience of things, the poet bids farewell to our past and social anomalies with healthy laughter.

Knežević is a professor of Serbian language and South Slavic literature, poet and novelist, author of seven poetry collections: "Deponija snova" (2007), "Avlija bivših" (2011), "Dnevnik sitnih grehova" (2014), "Electronic identification of voters" (2016). "Nijemi dijalozi" (2017), "Robijaški refreni" (2020) and "Ne dam mandat" (2025).

He also published the novel “Obala Nesanice” (2021) published by Belgrade's “Štampar Makarija”. In January 2022, for this work, he was awarded the prestigious award of the Belgrade “Jež” “Slobodan Kostić” for humor in satire at the Belgrade “Slavija” theater. For the same novel, in April 2022, he was also awarded the most significant award of the Serbian Writers' Association “Radoje Domanović” (for the novel of the year as the most successful satirical novel). For “Obala Nesanice” he also received the “Vidovdan Charter” of the UKCG, thus three prestigious awards.

He is also the recipient of other significant awards: "Mirko Banjević" for the collection of poems "Robijaški refreni" (2021) and the 2021 Literary Society of Kosovo and Metohija award "Velika Gramata", the highest recognition for literary creativity, preservation of the Serbian language and culture, which the Society traditionally awards to distinguished writers of the Serbian-speaking area.

Knežević is primarily an engaged writer whose work is dominated by a satirical attitude towards reality and social anomalies. He is a fighter for human and civil rights, and his satire has marked both his poetry collections and the novel "Obala Nesanice".

This prose work about an imaginary African state, a training ground for dictatorship, corruption, smuggling and nepotism, has so far been promoted in several cities in our country and in the surrounding area. Critics have assessed that Knežević has collected rich material from the social events of Montenegro and "moved" everything to Africa, writing a novel about the downfall of a nation, while awakening the spirit of freedom-loving resistance.

Knežević has made notable appearances at numerous literary forums in Montenegro and the region, and has also recited his satirical poetry in the Bijelo Polje Prison and the male and female prisons for long sentences at UIKS in Spuž.
