Reacting to information that documents from a file cabinet were found during a search of his apartment building, Aco Đukanović's legal team said that the material found consisted of printed promotional pamphlets and various materials related to political communication activities on social networks, content analysis and communication proposals. They say these are typical materials used by all political parties around the world in planning their public campaigns.

We are publishing their statement in its entirety.

"Regarding the information that has emerged in the public domain following the search of the residential building of our defendant Aco Đukanović, which relates to the allegedly "found documentation from the file cabinet", we consider it necessary to point out facts that are of essential importance for properly informing the public.

Namely, in the first hours after the search, information was released to the public that "documentation from a binder" had been found in the apartment, which created the impression that the materials in question did not indicate any criminal offense. Such a formulation generated speculation in the public sphere about the alleged contents of the documentation and its significance for the case.

However, the facts are significantly different.

The material found consists of printed promotional pamphlets and various materials related to political communication activities on social networks, content analyses and communication proposals. These are typical materials used by all political parties around the world in planning their public campaigns.

We particularly emphasize that our client never participated in their production, distribution or use. The pamphlet was found in a sealed envelope in the garage among other irrelevant materials, which only indicates its lack of significance. Also, it is a material that is several years old and has no legal relevance to any proceedings, which is why the competent prosecutor did not request any statement from our client.

Despite this, the way this information was initially presented to the public created a false perception about the alleged "evidence" found during the search, leading to numerous speculations and interpretations that were not based on actual facts.

In a state governed by the rule of law, it is particularly important that information relating to criminal proceedings is communicated accurately and responsibly, in order to avoid creating the wrong impression about the content and significance of certain materials.

Therefore, we believe that it is in the public interest to clearly separate what the actual facts are from the narratives that appeared in the first media reports following the police action.

The legal team believes that it would be beneficial for whoever is in possession of this pamphlet to make it available to the public, in order to prevent further speculation. Bottom of Form

"The legal team will continue to use all legal means in the further course of the proceedings to protect the rights of our client and ensure that all relevant facts are established exclusively within the framework of a lawful and fair judicial process."
