The Minister of Health of Montenegro, Vojislav Šimun, held a working meeting yesterday with the directors of health institutions from northern Montenegro, dedicated to improving mutual coordination and further strengthening the functionality of the health system in this part of the country.

The meeting was attended by directors of several health institutions from the north of the country: Dr Radovan Vušović, director of the Nikšić Health Center; Dr Maja Vujisić, director of the Mojkovac Health Center; Marica Janković, director of the Berane Health Center; Dr Sonja Velicković, director of the Bijelo Polje Health Center; Dr Marko Terzić, director of the Pljevlja Health Center, Milan Marković, director of the Kolašin Health Center, and Dr Milorad Magdelinić, director of the Berane Clinical Hospital Center.

In an open and constructive dialogue, key issues of importance for the organization and efficiency of healthcare in the northern region were discussed, with special emphasis on further strengthening the healthcare infrastructure, improving institutional cooperation, improving communication mechanisms between institutions at different levels of healthcare, as well as identifying models that can contribute to further improving the quality of healthcare services available to citizens.

Directors of health institutions from northern Montenegro pointed to the continuity, comprehensiveness and strategic nature of the support provided to them by the Ministry of Health, led by Minister Vojislav Šimun, in the process of further strengthening health care in the municipalities covered by their institutions.

During the conversation, it was particularly emphasized that measurable and visible progress has been made in the previous period, both in improving the health infrastructure and in systematically strengthening the human resources capacities of institutions that form the backbone of the health system of the northern region. It was emphasized that a partnership and coordinated relationship with the relevant ministry enables a consistent and long-term sustainable approach to the development of health care, aimed at more stable functioning of institutions and raising the standards of health services available to citizens.

The interlocutors unanimously assessed that a strong investment cycle has been implemented in the healthcare system of the north of the country in the past period, with the parallel implementation of new investments worth millions in modern medical equipment. This investment dynamic has been recognized as a key step towards further modernization of healthcare capacities, as well as towards establishing a more efficient, accessible and qualitatively improved healthcare system.

"The development of healthcare in northern Montenegro has multidimensional significance - not only in the context of improving the quality of healthcare services, but also from the aspect of the overall balance and long-term sustainability of the healthcare system. Our institutional obligation is to ensure uniform standards of healthcare for all citizens, regardless of their location."

"It is in this direction that we continue with systemic investments in infrastructure, strengthening human resources and continuous modernization of medical equipment, so that health institutions in the north are further strengthened in their mission of providing quality, efficient and timely health care," said Minister Šimun.

The interlocutors jointly concluded that such working meetings represent an important institutional framework for the continuous exchange of experiences, articulating the priority needs of the health system, and planning future activities aimed at its further improvement.

The Ministry of Health will continue, in partnership with health institutions, to develop initiatives and concrete measures that contribute to stronger organizational connectivity of the system and further raising the standards of health care in all parts of Montenegro.
