As stated by the Director of the Directorate for Maritime and Inland Navigation, Goran Idrizović, the department is monitoring the situation and trying to return the sailors safely to Montenegro.
He emphasized that 44 seafarers have registered through the emergency registration platform in war-affected areas, and five have applied for evacuation.
Izdrizović specifically emphasized that the security situation has further escalated due to two incidents that can be classified as armed attacks on ships. He added that, in close and intensive cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they are closely monitoring the development of the situation and are working to prepare evacuation flights for our seafarers who have requested to return home.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs announced a few days ago that 40 Montenegrin seafarers located in the Strait of Hormuz, Persian Gulf and Oman region had previously registered through the emergency registration platform, stating that the safety of seafarers is an absolute priority.
