The President of the Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro, Boško Miličić, previously informed the public, competent institutions and all participants in the milk production and purchase chain about the current situation, which, according to him, has caused serious concern among producers in the country.
"It has been announced that the purchase of milk for producers who deliver less than 100 liters of milk will cease. Such a practice calls into question the survival of numerous agricultural farms, but also the stability of the entire dairy sector in Montenegro. We believe that the unity of all milk producers, regardless of the size of production, is the key to domestic milk production and the protection of common interests," Miličić said in a statement.
He said that representatives of the Cluster will attend a meeting that will begin at ten o'clock with representatives of the relevant ministry, retail chains, processors and producers.
Miličić announced that the Agricultural Cluster, if the problem of milk purchase is not urgently resolved, will be forced to call on all producers to jointly suspend deliveries, regardless of quantity.
According to him, the Cluster is categorical in its stance that it will not sign new contracts offered by individual dairies, since they include provisions that are unacceptable and harmful to producers.
