The best Montenegrin athlete of all time achieved a magnificent victory at the prestigious meeting in Athens and once again confirmed her place among the best European high jumpers with a new national record of 1.98 meters.

Montenegrin athletics queen Marija Vuković once again confirmed her top class and wrote a new page in the history of Montenegrin sports. At the prestigious international meeting "Filothei Women Gala" in Athens, the best Montenegrin athlete of all time achieved a magnificent victory and set a new national record for Montenegro in the high jump - an impressive 1.98 meters.

In competition with some of the best European jumpers, Marija showed the champion character, confidence and quality that have placed her among the best names in European athletics for years. The new result represents the best jump of her career and confirmation that she is in great shape for the challenges that await her throughout the rest of the season.

Vuković deservedly won first place, while second place went to talented Serbian national team member Angelina Topić with a jump of 1.96 meters. Third place was taken by Slovenian athlete Lia Apostolovski with a result of 1.88 meters.

This result is particularly valuable because Marija improved the previous Montenegrin national record, which she also held, by one centimeter. This once again confirmed her status as the most successful Montenegrin athlete and one of the greatest ambassadors of Montenegrin sports on the international stage.

The triumph in Athens and the new national record represent another great success for Montenegrin athletics and strong confirmation that Marija Vuković still belongs to the very top of European high jump, the Federation announced.

"The Athletics Federation of Montenegro extends its sincere congratulations to Marija Vuković on her new national record, exceptional result and great victory, with which she represented Montenegro in the best way. The congratulations were personally sent by ASCG President Milorad Vuletic, Director Danijel Furtula and Secretary General Milan Madzgalj," the ASCG announced.
