She wrote on social media that she was closing a special chapter in her life.
Cvijić climbed to the roof of Europe twice with the Buducnost team.
"After all the years spent on the field, I have decided to end my handball career. It is difficult to find the right words for everything that handball has given me - lifelong friendships, invaluable experiences, memorable victories, but also defeats from which I grew. Every training session, every match, every jersey I wore left a mark on my heart," Cvijić wrote on Instagram.
She expressed her gratitude to all her teammates, coaches, and clubs with whom she collaborated during her career.
"They believed in me, taught me and pushed me to be better. Thank you for being a part of my journey and my second family. A big thank you to the fans, friends and family who have been with me through every success and every difficult moment. Your support has meant more to me than words can describe. Handball was not just a sport – it was my life, my passion and a part of me that will forever remain in my heart. Although I am saying goodbye to the court, the memories, emotions and love for this sport remain forever. Thank you for everything. See you in a new role," she said.
Cvijić won a silver medal with the Serbian national team at the 2013 World Championships.
During her club career, she played for Red Star Belgrade, Krim, Vardar, CSM Bucharest, CSKA Moscow and Ferencvaros.
