The Independence Day celebration program, which will run for several days from mid-month, includes a series of cultural, musical and entertainment events throughout the capital, the government said. The goal, they said, is to offer content for all generations.
"This is a multi-day program, so we will start with the program and all the planned events to mark the anniversary sometime around May 15th. So, in cooperation with the Capital, the Tourist Organization, and RTCG, we have organized a series of events during those 7 or 8 days, ending on May 22nd. During the program, we will have a review of cultural and artistic societies, performers of Montenegrin folk music, and a day dedicated to children. Also, in the period leading up to the main event on May 21st, we will have the participation of some renowned Montenegrin performers," said Ivan Brajković from the Government of Montenegro.
In addition to the entertainment part, special attention is also being paid to the security and organization of the celebration. The police, the Protection and Rescue Services, as well as the Ambulance Service are involved in the preparations, and citizens can expect changes to the traffic regime in the center of Podgorica.
The announcement of a major concert by world star Ricky Martin and a rich program has sparked positive reactions among citizens, who believe that such events bring a special atmosphere to the Capital City.
The Government urges citizens to respect the temporary changes to the traffic regime and recommends that they arrive early for the central celebration, so that the organization and functioning of all city and state services can proceed without problems. The central celebration of Independence Day will be held on May 21 at Independence Square in Podgorica.
