During the meeting, it was emphasized that the New York Police Department employs about 200 officers of Montenegrin origin, who, with their professionalism, knowledge and dedication, contribute to the security of the city of a million people on a daily basis, while maintaining a strong connection with the country they come from and the values they carry with them.
In an open and meaningful conversation, experiences were exchanged on contemporary security challenges, the importance of preventive and intelligence activities, as well as the role of the police in preserving the trust of citizens, the stability of society and security in an increasingly complex global security environment.
Minister Šaranović expressed his satisfaction with the fact that people of Montenegrin origin, through their work and professional integrity, represent an important part of the security system of the United States of America, emphasizing that their success represents a special pride for Montenegro as well.
"A special value for every country is represented by people who, regardless of where they live and work, maintain a connection with their origins and, with their professional successes, build bridges of cooperation, trust and friendship between countries and institutions," said the minister.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police Directorate remain strongly committed to the modernization and professionalization of the police service, with the belief that international cooperation, exchange of experiences and networking with successful professionals from the diaspora are an important segment of further strengthening the security system of Montenegro.
At the end of the meeting, mutual willingness to continue and deepen cooperation was expressed, with the assessment that the experiences and successes of police officers of our origin in international security structures represent an additional incentive for strengthening professional standards, institutional ties and friendly relations between Montenegro and the United States.
