The upcoming World Cup has already been labeled as the most expensive in football history, and the additional costs of travel and accommodation make it practically unaffordable for a large number of fans.
Particular attention was drawn to information that VIP tickets for the final are being sold at incredible prices, while basic tickets are difficult to obtain due to the sales and resale system.
Guardiola spoke on the subject ahead of the FA Cup match, pointing out that modern football is increasingly losing touch with the ordinary fan.
"My earliest memories go back to the time when the World Cup was a celebration of the joy of football. For the nations that qualified for the World Cup, it was a great thrill, people could see their national team on other continents with a little savings. And now, modern times have come where it has become too expensive for the average person, even if they want to save money. I really don't understand how someone can set ticket prices for ordinary stands to be so high, I hope a much more reasonable solution can be found," Guardiola said.
The experienced expert emphasized that without fans, football loses its essence and recalled the atmosphere of the 1986 World Cup, emphasizing that such trends threaten to turn the biggest football event into a luxury available only to the richest.
