"Man, how proud it sounds" - the thought of the famous Maxim Gorky echoed today in the classrooms of the Podgorica school that proudly bears his name, reminding us that the greatest strength lies precisely in remaining human. The talk was about the life and work of the Russian great.
The occasion for the lovely gathering is World Book Day, which has been celebrated at the school for the sixth year. The program was designed by the Montenegrin language and literature teacher, MA Svetlana Sekulić, together with the students.
"The school was founded in 1965 and the idea came to me that this year there should be a class dedicated to him. He was a fighter for justice, for the little, ordinary man," said Montenegrin language and literature professor Svetlana Sekulić.
Asked if it is difficult to bring Gorky and the classics closer to new generations, Sekulić replies that unfortunately new technologies have taken their toll.
"I want to bring children back to books in this way," she points out.
The professor also had an important message.
"Being and remaining human is the most important thing in today's modern era, when both children and adults are threatened by numerous challenges and when it is precisely human that needs to remain," said Sekulić.
The school also organized a rich program. The world may be changing faster than ever, but the message sent today by the students of the "Maksim Gorki" Elementary School remains the same: books do not just teach us with words, they shape us to be better people.
