The Montenegrin cadet football team opened its appearance in the elite round of EURO 2026 qualifiers with a 1:0 victory over Greece.

Luka Vušurović brought the three points to the "Falcons", who, after a nice team action and an assist from Aleksa Causevic, checked the Greek goalie.

Before that, both teams had chances to score. In the 18th minute, Vesko Čukić hit the post, and Vušurović and Miloš Šekularac also had good chances. The best was certainly Čukić, who missed a penalty in the 64th minute. Simon Sošić stood out in the Montenegrin goal, with several great interventions.

– In a strong competitive match, with alternating good periods of play by both teams, we managed to register a victory and increase our chances of qualifying for the EURO. We entered the match worse, with unnecessary nervousness and expressed emotions, so we lacked a calmer pass for a better rhythm. Later, we had periods of better play and entered the final with an unused penalty. However, we scored a goal and kept that advantage with a little luck until the end. I congratulate the boys on today's performance and victory over a quality opponent, emphasized coach Kavaja.
