The bazaar started today and will last for two days, and the funds raised will be donated to organizations that provide support to victims of violence.
Stands with cakes, handicrafts and symbolic gifts filled the hall of Podgorica's Slobodan Škerović High School. The students organized a humanitarian bazaar to raise money for women and children victims of violence, and the idea, they say, arose from the desire to show solidarity and support for those who need help the most, even with a small gesture.
"I think we can help mothers who are in a difficult situation, especially those who have children," says student Sara Radulović.
Student Maša Branković points out that it may be a small amount of money, but it just shows that we stand in solidarity with women and that we are there to support their every battle.
While money was being collected in the lobby of the Podgorica high school for women and children victims of violence, a debate about women throughout history was organized on the first floor. The students recalled significant female names from our region who, as they say, often remained in the shadow of great scientists and thinkers, even though they themselves made significant contributions to science.
"We have information that the great Einstein erased Mileva's name from his projects and wrote his own - Mileva was remembered only as a woman of great genius, and her talents remained in the shadows," said one of the students.
However, our history also remembers heroines – even in the army.
"I come from a family with 7 memorials from World War II, 4 of which are women, and I believe that a woman can certainly make a contribution in the army and be a heroine," said student Rade.
The humanitarian bazaar at the Slobodan Škerović High School will last two days, and the high school students say that the most important thing is to show solidarity and empathy. Because, as they say, even a small gesture of support can send a big message to women going through difficult life situations – that they are not alone.
