"As the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović announced after direct communication with the President of France Emmanuel Macron, Montenegro will close all five planned chapters tomorrow, and not three as there was a danger of happening. This result is an important signal that the achieved progress is recognized, while, on the other hand, the uncertain diplomatic situation in which we found ourselves before the Intergovernmental Conference is a clear warning that European obligations must be fulfilled seriously and responsibly, instead of wasting energy on PR and daily political interpretations. At the same time, this was an important lesson that we learned the hard way - that special attention should be paid to lobbying at the highest political level towards the member states. The institution of the President will continue to be a constructive actor in the process of accession negotiations, a corrective factor in terms of systemic anomalies, as well as a barrier to a frivolous approach in fulfilling obligations from the negotiation process," said Radonjić.
He points out that they thank the European partners for their support, as well as the negotiating team of Montenegro, which made a key contribution to making this step happen on schedule.
"Now we have to put an even stronger focus on essential reforms, because the goal remains clear - Montenegro's membership in the European Union by 2028," said Radonjić.
